Chess Registration Form
Our chess team began in the spring of 2005 with a small group of enthusiastic students in Kdg - 8th The students worked very hard and even won the inaugural 2006 ACSI Chess Championship. The following year our team went to a national competition in Nashville, Tennessee and placed 9th in the country. That was quite an accomplishment for such a young team.
The chess team grew to over 50 students and went on to win the 2007 and 2008 ACSI Chess Championships. They are gaining national attention and respect by finishing in 5th place at the National Championships in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Chess is one of the most powerful educational tools available to strengthen a child’s mind. It is required curricula in nearly 30 countries. Chess can enhance concentration, patience and perseverance as well as develop creativity, intuition, memory and, importantly, the ability to analyze and deduce from a set of general principles while learning to make tough decisions and solve problems flexibly. While the lifelong benefits of chess are most exciting, chess also enhances students abilities to perform well in tests, as it teaches them to think clearly under pressure and to manage their time efficiently.
